Luciano Gualà graduated cum laude with a Laurea degree in Computer Science from the University of L’Aquila in 2003. In 2006, he earned a Ph.D. in Theoretical Computer Science and Applications from the same university, defending a thesis titled “Algorithmic Mechanism Design for Network Optimization Problems.” From June to September 2005, he was a visiting Ph.D. student at ETH Zurich, where he collaborated with Peter Widmayer’s research group on algorithmic game theory.

In 2006, he joined the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” as an Assistant Professor, and in 2022, he was promoted to Associate Professor. Over the years, he has taught a variety of courses to undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. students.

His research focuses on the design and analysis of algorithms and data structures, with particular attention to approximation algorithms, combinatorial optimization, algorithmic game theory, computational complexity, and data mining applications.
