Short CV: Full Professor in Industrial Systems Engineering (ING-IND/17), PhD in Engineering and Management, MBA, he teaches courses of Operations Management since 2000. At “Tor Vergata” University in Rome lecturers the course of Design of Manufacturing Systems and The course of Production Management at the School of Engineering, and lectures the course of Lean Manufacturing and the course of Operations Management at the Master in Enterprise Engineering.
He is delegated to the Department of Enterprise Engineering in the framework agreements or in research contracts with several private companies. He is the University’s contact person in national university contests with Amazon, Ferrero, Calzedonia. He was the Engineering School Delegate for Orientation from 2012 to 2022 and the Responsible for the Quality Assurance processes of Teaching, Researching and Third Mission Activities for the Department, as well as the contact person for the Research Quality Assessment (VQR) procedure from 2013 to 2020. In 2017 he formed the Advisory Council of the Engineering School and in 2019 he founded and currently coordinates the Think Tank in Operations Excellence. By Rectoral Decree dated 17/07/2021, he was appointed General Coordinator of the University’s 40th Anniversary Celebration in 2022, leading the ad-hoc Working Group consisting of 6 colleagues. He is the delegate for the organization of Major Events and is the Coordinator of Social Media in the University.
At an international level, he is a Guest Professor at the Guizhou University of Finance & Economics in Guiyang, China; Visiting International Fellow at the University of Essex, UK; member of the Advisory Board of the Professional Doctorate in Engineering at the University of Limerick. He is one of the Italian National Experts in ISO Technical Committees on Industrial Automation and Smart Manufacturing and specifically focuses on KPI for Operations Management standards.
He has taught in several Master’s programs, including the MBA of Stoà Institute, the Lean Manufacturing Master of the University of Trieste, the iMBA of Argosy University (USA) and Università Marconi (Italy), the EMBA of Luiss “Guido Carli” University. He founded the spinoff company Operations Management Team, 10% owned by the University of “Tor Vergata,” which was sold in 2022 to the strategic consulting firm Key Value, where he serves as Scientific Advisor. Every year teaches more than 200 students in the Engineering School, organizing several students’ internships in various industrial companies. To date, has supervised more than 300 students in their thesis work on top of more than 20 PhDs. He participated in more than 50 projects with industrial companies at the national or international level and was nominated as technical advisor (CTU) in two arbitration procedures on trials for over 20 M€ each, related to the manufacturing and process industry.
Author of more than 140 scientific publications related to Operations Management, he also is:

– Area-Editor (Supply Chain Management & Logistics) of Computers and Industrial Engineering (Elsevier).
– Reviewer for many leading international journals, including: International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Logistics Systems and Management, International Journal of the Analytic Hierarchy Process, Kybernetes, Sustainability, Communications in Computer and Information Science, International Journal of Engineering, Science and Technology, International Journal of RF Technologies, American Journal of Applied Sciences, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management.

- Production systems management: production strategies, market-to-production response techniques, production planning and scheduling, materials management, safety time/stock/capacity and other sandbagging techniques, analysis and optimization of production and distribution processes.
– Internal and external logistics for industrial plants: procurement optimization, logistics design and management, supply chain management, optimization of transportation systems, warehouse design and operations management, optimization of material-handling systems.
– Production cost reduction techniques: techniques for product costs and value-added activities analysis, Lean Production techniques, Just-in-Time systems, advanced production management techniques with hybrid Kanban systems, Kaizen approaches, process quality management and six sigma standards.
– Design and management of industrial plants: feasibility analysis, quantitative methods for technical/economical parameters optimization, industrial plants design, integration and coordination of general support services and technical facilities for production systems, project management for industrial innovation.
– Production and logistics information systems: processes analysis and modelling, optimization of operating parameters for MES, MRP and ERP information systems related to manufacturing plants management and to supplier-to-retailer logistics management.

M.M. Schiraldi has always paid much attention to relations with enterprises, both for teaching and research purposes.
